Vals Therme is an astonishing piece of art in the middle of the mountains in the Canton of Graubünden in Switzerland. They were conceived by the internationally acclaimed architect Peter Zumthor.

Vals is a small village in the Surselva region located up in the mountains and easily reachable by car. You can also take the train there but if you are a group and do not have a Swiss Rail Pass I highly recommend going there by car.

The ride by car will offer you a spectacular scenery with natural falls, forests and cute small villages with characteristic chalets.

During the Post-COVID phase only guests of the 7132 Hotel or guests of other hotels in Vals are allowed into the thermal baths.

The rooms at 7132 Hotel are actually quite expensive but the access to the Thermal baths is included and you can have access even at night (11 p.m. to 1 a.m.).

If you are travelling on a low budget I highly recommend Gassa 95 Bed & Breakfast. the structure is the oldest building in the village of Vals and it’s more then 500 years old. They have up to 32 beds in accommodations varying from hostel type (communal room) to private rooms (around CHF 70 per night including a very abundant breakfast).

The host, Corsin, is an retired chef and he has taken over this business for a few years. He is very nice and will help you with the Thermal baths reservations (which at the. moment must be done via the Hotel).

The entrance to the Thermal baths costs CHF 45 and you can stay from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. Massages are possible as an extra. Bring your own towel if you do not want to pay an extra CHF 5 for renting it.

Let yourself go and enter this beautiful geometrical space conceived for a peaceful and relaxing time in the middle of the Swiss Alps.

As soon as you will enter the Spa area you will be transported into another dimension by the sound of the running water in the corridor taking you to the changing room.

All the surfaces are made of Vals quartzite, a beautiful grey stone that will be very agreeable on the sole of your feet while walking.

You will be stunned by the blue color of the water despite the grey stone and by the light reflections.

Get lost in the thermal baths and savour the place with your senses. Let the parfumes of the flowers in the pool surround yourself as a pleasant aura. Feel the different degrees of the water in the pools on your skin and let it carry you to a prenatal sensation. Enlight your vision exploring the light effects on the stones and the reflections on the water from every single angle and perspective of this magical place.

You may be surprised by its very geometrical look at first but you will be breathless once you visit the outdoor pool with a view directly on the mountains as if it was a static picture slurred by the vapours of the hot water.
