“A dreamer is one who can only find his way by moonlight, and his punishment is that he sees the dawn before the rest of the world.”
Oscar Wilde
Do you ever wake up thinking you are somewhere else?
A dim of sunshine came into my room this morning. it must have been early, too early to wake up on a Sunday. So I continued to sleep and suddenly I was in my apartment in Republica, Sao Paulo.
The sunlight always peeks into the room over there because the curtains don’t join each other perfectly…
Still asleep, but half awake, I started to plan my day in that chaotic and yet surprising city.
My plan was to get up, make an American coffee and then go get a better coffee and pan de quejo at the bakery down the street.
Yes, I know, they’ve already told me this is not a place where tourists should walk around… But what can I do? I like it here and to be honest I’ve taken the metro, the buses and I only found nice and helpful people. Well keeping it simple must help…
The pan de quejo is really good in this bakery, that’s why I keep coming. Who knows what they think: I’ve been speaking to them in Spanish and the only thing I can say in Portuguese is “obrigado”.
Sao Paulo has revealed to be an amazing city from the first night I got there carrying my big backpack all the way from the airport, using the metro. People were very helpful and I even got lost thinking my airbnb was somewhere else.
I walked around in the centre discovering its amazing churches, visiting the national theatre, getting on what once was the tallest building in south America, eating asian food in Libertades, admiring the views from skyscrapers…
One thing is for sure: you never get annoyed!
Today I might go to Paulista as well, maybe drink a coffee in Casa Das Rosas… What a cute place that was…
Maybe the only thing that bothers me about this place is the gap that exists between the rich and the poor. Someone told me that nearly 500’000 people in Sao Paulo are living in the streets…
The sun is shining today… maybe I should go to the park… or stay a bit more in bed…
“Driiin, driiin…”
Forced to open my eyes and to realise I’m home in Nyon…
Let’s have a great Sunday!
P.S.: more pictures of my trips on my instagram page!
